tragic numbers

i should say.

hadn't yet.

i think it's a travesty the only player ever to win the triple crown in back-to-back years, miguel cabrera, won't go into the record books for the feat. all because yet another player is cheating with ped's to make a career for himself. (52 hr's a year after hitting 33 and never doing anything remotely similar at any other point in his career??)

Is it generally believed that Cabrera is clean?

i haven't heard a whisper otherwise.
he makes the list by some guy of the 12 players he'd be most surprised to find out were using (mind you that was in 2009).
cabrera doesn't hit like a slugger who juices. he's never had a season over 44 hrs like an a-rod. he doesn't strikeout a lot like a slugger -- his strikeout numbers have fallen from the 120s per season to the mid-90s. his home runs went down to 30 in 2011 because his intentional/unintentional walks were up to 108 -- it fell to 66 in 2012 once he had fielder behind him. the higher number of hrs and batting average with fewer strikeouts the past two years are directly attributable to being on a good team with a great player batting behind him -- he finally gets quality at bats and has to be given quality pitches in situations he otherwise wouldn't have.

the only juice he's had a problem with is alcohol. i think getting past that also helped him maintain and exceed his prior year performances.
