"And, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey: be careful out there."

(Everyone at Cornell was proud that Ed Marinaro, who almost won the Heisman trophy, and whom some of my teachers had taught, was on the show.)

Also, I remember that when Michael Conrad died (the actor who played the Sergeant who said "Be careful out there") they had seven or so of his episodes in the can, so he kept saying it for the next two months. Then the eight episode said he'd been killed (in some fictional way), and then the credits dedicated the show to his memory. And I was amazed at the fact that he'd been able to act and be himself through essentially the last seven weeks of his life. That he died between one "Be careful out there" and the next week's production.

Also a great Pittsburgh show, no?

i should watch it and find out. ;)
wiki says it's an unnamed mix of chicago, pittsburgh, and buffalo based in large part on bochco's time at carnegie but that some of the in-show ephemera made it look more like chicago. as far as i know pgh is easily the hilliest of the three.

The Wire's "don't get captured" must be a nod to that line, huh?
