the light goes out

will it be ever thus?

"the paradise ice caves collapsed and vanished in the 1990s, and the lower lobe of the glacier which once contained the caves also vanished entirely between 2004 and 2006."

so paradise was blightned, so 'twas curst,
when wickedness and squalor it submerst.

what relish is in this? how runs the stream?
or i am mad, or else this is a dream:
          let fancy still my sense in lethe steep;
if it be thus to dream, still let me sleep!

days like this keep me warm
let it be written. i. am an ass.

sunset limited is limited.

although pro forma i ought to say sunset limited is sunset.

funny that the publishers should've subtitled the printed version "a novel in dramatic form"; i'd rather say it's novelettish.

still, i will enjoy sam jackson's performance i'm sure.

jones jones is jones:

dc: how did you end up deciding to make a film out of “the sunset limited”?

jones: my wife and i were having lunch at the santacafé in santa fe, and we were talking about “sunset limited,” and i said i wish i could talk to cormac about it, and she looked up over my shoulder and said, “hello, cormac,” and there he was.

you ever had one of them days when things was just sort of weird all the way around?

so i was looking at some reviews of the sunset limited (as printed, not performed) and the one that stood out was by a user named dschultheis. a bit later bythos played a song by a band that reminded me of the dead milkmen and so i was looking at tdm's wiki page and saw that their bassist dave blood's real name was dave schulthise. he committed suicide in 2004 at the age of 47.

also, tdm had a rare retrospective compilation called "now we are 10". the title of neil gaiman's blog entry on 9 february, the tenth anniversary of his blog: "now we are TEN".
